Byron was appointed President of Paws Up for Veterans in January 2013. Byron is a medically retired United States Army, Combat Wounded Veterans who served in Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF). During the course of a 26 year career in the United States Army and the California National Guard, he has served in a multitude of leadership positions at various levels during peacetime as well as wartime. Byron currently has a service dog named coal, and truly believes in the service dog program for veterans. Byron graduated from the University of Phoenix with a Masters of Arts in Organizational Management in 2001 and a Bachelor of Arts in political Science and history from Thiel College in Greenville, Pennsylvania in 1984. Additionally, he possesses a Mater’s Certificate in Project management from Villanova University (2010). He is a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Disabled American Veterans, and the American Legion.
Jared is a combat veteran of Iraq as an infantry team and squad leader. He has held several positions at a management level, in retail. Jared brings strong leadership and management skills to the tables that are necessary to see projects through fruition.
Theresa has worked for that State of California for eight years in accounting. Has been involved with puppy raising since 2011 and has extensive experience in the benefits of canine companionship and service.
Marcia was employed as a letter carrier with the United States Postal Service for over 27 years. Learned the importance of paying attention to detail, which qualified her to be secretary.
Allison is a trainer/instructor/behavioral consultant for Paws Up For Veterans. She has a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology and studied animal behavior for two years. She spent six years as a apprentice in service dog behavior/training/placement/service dog users.
Wayne served as a First Lieutenant in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II. Wayne has been raising service dogs for Guide Dogs for the Blind since 1999, and has volunteered at the Saint Francis Pet Education for three years as well as at Four Paws for Vets.
Bob is a retired registered nurse/paramedic/EMT. Bob has over 40 years of expertise in dog breeding, training, showing, and rescuing. He is also trained in Posttraumatic Defusing and Debriefing.
Ann worked for the United Sates Department of Agriculture (USDA) for 30+ years as an EMT, Dispatcher and firefighter on engine and helicopter and now works as a computer specialist. Ann is trained in Posttraumatic Defusing and Debriefing
Patricia is a Licensed Vocational nurse and is American Kennel Club (AKC) Certified for training therapy dogs. She is an AKC/Canine Good Citizen (CGC) Evaluator and is trained in pet first aid. She has over 20 years experience with various breeds of dogs.
Amanda is an Administrative Specialist and Certified Massage Therapist. She is a trained Phlebotomist as well as a Medical Secretary.
